Moroccan Boho at the Bonnet House

The mustard yellow walls of the historic Bonnet House looked radiant against the lush old-Florida mangroves and orchid gardens in mid-October. We were blessed with amazing weather, ahead of schedule timeline, and a dream team of vendors. Chelsea Erwin Photography (photography) and Krafted Memories (videography) captured the day beginning with behind the scenes photos at the W on Fort Lauderdale Beach, then bridal party portraits beginning mid day in the gardens of the estate. With Platinum Tent’s 20x130’ clear framed tent on the venues terrace, reception was already well underway.

To set the scene, Alexander Events placed eight 72” rounds across the terrace with their in-house ivory linen, their gold chiavari chairs with ivory cushion, and standard dinnerware at each setting. The couples inspiration for their color palette, was from twisting one of their Moroccan lanterns and falling in love with the emeralds, mustards, merlots, and agate blues. To bring out their colors, we rented Nuage Design merlot linen napkins, with Moroccan style gold chargers from A Different Look, and created a loose, garden inspired florals inside gold geometric terrariums for the centerpieces from Ever After Floral Design.

The floral designer focused on creating a deep merlot and ivory palette with plenty of greenery in the personal florals. We incorporated a boho lounge with Moroccan side tables and a big mustard love seat for the couple from Mi Vintage. The signage that Mi Vintage provided were heavy gold mirrors, where Claudia Strenger Calligraphy stepped in the day of the hand-write some stunning wording.

Besides the lounge and reception, we housed a stunning cake by Johnson’s Custom Cakes on a vintage cart with more garland. The couple loved keeping their theme boho, so of course, we used agate slabs (with calligraphy) for the table numbers and escort cards as well.

The bride Lauren, and her now husband, Josh, dressed to the nines for the occasion and didn’t hold back from throwing in personality and comfortability. Check out Lauren’s glammed out sneakers below. The stunning makeup for the bridal party was done by Makeup by Sofia and hair by Amora Beauty Studio.

The ceremony, though short and sweet, certainly had an old world feel and was brimming with Floridian palms and the deep merlot colors from the florals cascading out of an old fountain. One of the many surprises that day, were 2 secret rose petal blasters stationed behind the bridal party, that after their first kiss exploded into the crowd and rained white rose petals. This work was entrusted to Liquid Sky Laser Show, who was also responsible for the stunning laser lighting for the dance party later that evening.

After the nuptials, the cocktail hour took place inside the courtyard of the Bonnet House and the guests were served Moscow Mules (their favorite cocktail) out of the copper mugs. After this, the fun began during the dinner reception. They were served Caribbean and Asian cuisine by way of action stations, and an interactive s’more station and cake for dessert. The photobooth had a gold sequin backdrop from The Photobooth Bros. Music was a huge factor for Lauren and Josh, and with their friend DJ Paula making an appearance from Virginia, the laser show began and the night carried on.

We wish Lauren and Josh all the best in the next chapter of their lives as husband and wife! For more footage from the event, be sure to view their full album by clicking the link below.
